CSAP's Prevention Platform

The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention works with States and communities to develop comprehensive prevention systems that create healthy communities in which people enjoy a quality of life. This includes supportive work and school environments, drug- and crime-free neighborhoods, and positive connections with friends and family.

SPF-SIG Framework Process


Step 1 - Needs Assesment:
Profile population needs, resources, and readiness to address needs and gaps.

Step 2 - Capacity Building/Community Mobilization: Mobilize and/or build capacity to address needs.

Step 3 - Strategic Planning: Develop a Comprehensive Strategic Plan.

Step 4 - Implementation: Implement evidence-based prevention programs and activities.

Step 5 - Evaluation: Monitor, evaluate, sustain and improve or replace those that fail.
