 Substance Abuse Strategies (posted 02-18-08)

PIBC Guam has joined forces with pacific Abundant Living Ministries (PALM) to devise strategies to comabat drug, alcohol, and tobacco use among young people and adults on the island.

PALM is one of the coalitions working with PEACE, a section of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse.

Dean of students, Ned Farnsworth, and two students -- Joel Okada (from Palau) and Jayvina Chimwetiw (from Chuuk), recently attended a two day training event at the Outrigger Guam Resort. The purpose of the event was to provide team building exercises, networking opportunities, and cultural education for the community leaders who will be developing strategies for dealing with substance abuse issues.
