Over 350 youth participants participated in this year's 18th Annual Youth for Youth Conference, which was held on April 18-20, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The theme of the conference was "Hip 2 B Square."
Underage Drinking PreventionTownhall Meetings: Three community organizations: Island Girl Power, Pingelapese Guam Organization, and Youth for Youth LIVE! Guam each held separate town hall meetings during April-Alcohol Awareness Month to raise awareness about the problems associated with underage drinking.
Guam hosted a very important regional meeting. The Pacific Substance Abuse & Mental Health Collaboration Council Meeting was being held at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa from April 6-11, 2008. The meeting brought together representatives from SAMHSA, CSAT, CSAP, CMHS, CNMI, Marshall Islands, FSM, Palau, American Samoa and Guam to discuss prevention and treatment workforce development needs and certification of mental health prevention and treatment provider on Guam and within the Pacific Islands.
PEACE and other community partners participated in the 5th Annual Drive for Justice Reunion Health Fair and blood drive. The event also raised awareness of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and cervical cancer. The event was held at the Guam Premier Outlets on February 2, 2008.
