Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training (SAPST) for Community

The SAPST curriculum is designed to provide both pre-service and in-service prevention professionals with up-to-date, evidence-based information to the prevention field.  The curriculum is divided into eight separate sections.  Each section functions as an independent building block that orients new professionals to the field of prevention.  This curriculum is not designed to answer every prevention question or to provide an exhaustive overview of the field.  Instead, it offers core knowledge modules that begin the lifelong process of educating the profession about substance abuse prevention. Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training (SAPST) for Training of Trainers (TOT)

The training of trainers is designed to provide participants with the information, skills, and knowledge to conduct a SAPST training.  Participants must attend a participant training prior to the training; review SAPST facilitator manual prior to training; be prepared to facilitate SAPST curriculum during the training; and submit an application to CSAP’s Western CAPT.  Acceptance to this training will be determined by the CSAP’s Western CAMP upon review of the applications.  First priority will be given to those individuals in the Western CAPT region.

Substance Abuse Awareness  (Drug-Free Workplace) Training for Supervisors

After developing a drug-free workplace policy statement, your organization should train those individuals closest to the workfoce-supervisors.  Training supervisors is an integral part of every drug-free workplace program.  Supervisors should be provided with basic information about your drug-free workplace program and their role in its implementation.  At the end of this training, supervisors should understand the difference component of the Drug-Free Workplace Policy and their role in implementing the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.

Substance Abuse Awareness (Drug-Free Workplace) Training for Employees

Sends a clear message that use of alcohol and drugs in the workplace is prohibited and encourages employees who have problems with alcohol and other drugs to voluntarily seek help.

At the end of this training, employees should be familiar with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy and aware of the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse.  Employees should understand:
- the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace policy;
- the prevalence of alcohol and drug abuse and its impact on the workplace;
- How to recognize the link between poor performance and alcohol and/or drug abuse;
-the progression of the disease of alcohol and drug addiction;
- what types of assistance may be available.

Tobacco Education and Control Program
Tobacco Vendors Inspection  (SYNAR) Training Adult Inspectors, Youth Inspectors, and Enforcement Officers undergo training on how to conduct the annual tobacco vendors’ inspection.  This training presents an overview of the background, legal basis, and procedures and protocols utilized by the Territory of Guam to comply with the Synar Amendment.  The Tobacco Vendors Inspection focuses on standard protocols for conducting inspections of retail tobacco outlets, as required by law.

Basic Tobacco Intervention Skills Certification Program  - Basic Training

The Basic Tobacco Intervention Skills Certification Program, sponsored by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Tobacco Education and Prevention Program, will be used to train professionals and lay community members interested in delivering basic interventions for tobacco use cessation and to tobacco users.  The Basic Tobacco Intervention Skills Certification Program has been extensively tested and implemented across the state of Arizona.  The program has been adapted for Guam. To learn skills and knowledge in  delivering basic interventions for tobacco use cessation to tobacco users.

Suicide Prevention and Intervention Training

Suicide is usually a cry for help.  Many people who say they are going to attempt suicide are asking for help.  Suicide can be preventable if the person gets the help he or she needs.  The more you know about suicide, the more you may be able to help.  Learn more….
